Pemberton, B.C. soccer field victimized by joyriding vandal; damages in thousands

RCMP considering mischief charges

A joyriding motorist recently caused several thousand dollars in damages to a Pemberton, B.C. soccer field after driving “doughnuts” atop the playing surface which was covered in freshly fallen snow.

Pemberton RCMP suspect an SUV or pickup truck was used to create deep ruts that tore through the grass.

“While the driver may have felt this was harmless fun, in fact the vehicle has caused several thousand dollars in damage to the field, which will need to be fixed before it can be used again,” read an RCMP news release.

The field had once been a part of the old Pemberton high school but has since become property of the municipality and used for soccer.

The RCMP are considering mischief charges be laid if a suspect can be identified. Police are asking anyone with information to call (604) 894-6634.
